Ravebourne is a mobile tour guide/game app (presently still a high fidelity prototype) that explores Melbourne's underground 'rave scene' from the 80s - 00s. A time and place where highly lucrative parties broke away from the negative stigma nightclubs had, embracing the ideals of Peace, Love, Unity and Respect.
Serving as a treasure hunt/collecting butterflies scenario, the user embodies an NGV exhibition planner/researcher's role to uncover abandoned warehouse secrets, tokens and first-person story artifacts to feature in an upcoming Melbourne Now Exhibition.
While the app's functionality is reliant on following the GPS latitude and longitude coordinates provided to the user by the character 'Paul', they are also required to use their phone to scan each of the ten QR codes at each of the ten locations. These QR codes allow the user to discover the name (or former name) of the place they visited and collect the artifact and token (if there is one at that location). Users can also participate in time trials if they work together in groups to discover a somewhat lost time in history not often spoken about.
Ravebourne. An app/prototype intended to evoke nostalgia for all the 'old skool ravers'.
Due to the sheer size of the document file the prototype pages had to be split into twelve separate documents, as seen below.
